I’ve always wanted to pay tribute to “yoga”. To give it a 5-star rating. To write a good review. To share what led me to the practice and what kept me there. To give credit to its healing powers.
Yes, yoga has healing powers and it’s not just a bunch of hoodoo. Much of yoga and spirituality can be explained by science and this is what I’m aiming to do through my blog – to make the connections between yoga and health, yoga and spirituality, and yoga and happiness.
Since it’s a passion of mine to ponder the meaning of life and find reasonable explanations for events. I’m also in a good place to make the connections. I’m a RYT200 yoga instructor, but also a bio-molecular, bio-chemical, chemical and environmental engineer; in other words, I’m a pretty well-rounded scientist who gets the inner workings of the body at a physiological and cellular level but also the workings of the world through physics and some quantum theory. I’m also constantly thinking about how to protect our environment and live more sustainably. So I figure, this combination of skills puts me in a good position to make connections between yoga, spirituality and science – And to share this with the world through my Cosmic Life blog.
What Brought Me Here
I had a lot of health issues as a child. I carried a lot of epigenic trauma from past generations and I suffered the consequences of a mother with a very unhealthy diet (she was a smoker). My parents were both emotionally unavailable. Growing up, I was always sick and my immune system was weak. I was small and physically fragile. Though I was very active, when I would get injured, it would take me a long time to heal.
All of this trauma, emotional and physical was connected. Of course, I didn’t learn about that until I learnt yoga and yoga philosophy.
When Did I Find Yoga?
In 2000, I came across a health magazine with a few pages covering the “sun salutation sequence”. I immediately ripped the pages out and stuck them to my wall. At that time, there were few “yoga” studios in the city as it was well before the yoga-fitness-craze. I started doing the sun-salutation asana sequence at home. A few months later, I found and signed up for a kundalini yoga class series. The instructor left an impression on me. The class was heavily focused on ujayi breathing, and I immediately found the asanas (the physical poses) to be effective at opening energy blockages. I soon realized that yoga made me very happy and I was hooked.
Ascension
Ascension is the feeling of living like it’s heaven on earth by being fully connected to 5D. What’s 5D? I’ll save the long version for another post. In short, it’s a higher state of consciousness, it’s connecting to a higher dimensional frequency. When you are connected to a high frequency, the entirety of your body (down to your atoms) experience this shift and it has immense benefits for your health. This is acheived through meditation, a spirituality and mindfulness practice, and quite frankly, by being a pure-hearted good person. Yoga often helps ease up my muscular tension and helps me get into a meditative state.
Ascending to this point wasn’t without its hurdles, heartbreaks, and difficult lessons. The first challenge was to find myself and my soul’s path. But the following challenges were immensely difficult but very worth it. You see, we can’t avoid healing our trauma, dealing with our shadows, skirt around all of it or we experience an unfulfilled life. They say “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” but I believe it also makes you happier. It’s accepting difficulties and dealing with them that leads us on your path to raising our vibration, achieving inner happiness and ascending.
